During busy marketing periods, offers compete not only for attention but also for the recipient’s patience. Good planning is therefore as much about what you leave out as what you send.

Prioritise audiences

Choose offers and information that suit a defined recipient group. Do not use the entire customer base for convenience when only part of it has shown an interest. Plan who should receive each message and why.

Build a realistic schedule

Prepare messages, landing pages and segments in good time. Test links and sender details, and schedule according to recipient expectations and time zones. Avoid unnecessary extra messages simply because the campaign period is busy.

Prepare opt-out and follow-up

Make sure opting out is easy and that preferences are respected across lists. Decide in advance which data you genuinely need to evaluate the campaign afterwards.

Plan all channels together

Plan SMS alongside email, advertising and website content. Recipients experience the sum of the contact rather than each channel in isolation. Decide which channel should explain, which should remind and which audiences do not need more messages during the same period.

Set a clear point of control

Agree when the campaign is ready and who can approve the final version. After that point, changes should be limited to what is necessary and checked again. This reduces the risk of a hurried price, link or list change causing an error immediately before delivery.

A relevant next step

Make the next campaign more relevant

Plan recipients, wording, timing and follow-up as one coherent journey.
